The Giants are 22-40 on the road, but a far more respectable 28-31 at home. I find this price low enough to back San Francisco, especially with the Rockies pitching Kyle Freeland.

Freeland has actually been worse on the road than when pitching at Coors Field. He is 0-7 with a 7.81 away ERA.

The Giants have not allowed more than three earned runs in four of their last six games. They are starting Landen Roupp. He is far from special, but he has a 4.00 home ERA and gave up one run to the Tigers at home in his last start spanning 5 1/3 innings.

Roupp is superior to Freeland and the Giants have the better bullpen.

They have not been playing their best lately but this will be a homecoming for them as they have not played a home match since May 9, before the World Cup. Even though they lost last time out, we liked what we saw from them at Philly. They were up by two goals most of the match vs the Union but they were a man down and Philadelphia scored two goals in extra time to steal three points. I’ve been staring at this Over 7.5 in the Padres-Guardians game since the number first appeared, and every time the public keeps leaning Under the more it feels like the softest total on the entire board. League-wide scoring this season has settled at 4.42 runs per team per game, which already puts a 7.5 total in the bottom 12 percent of all full-game numbers posted in 2026, and historical data going back ten years shows that totals of 7.5 or lower have cleared the Over at a 59.3 percent clip when both starters carry ERAs between 3.20 and 3.70. Michael King has allowed 4.18 runs of support against over his last ten starts while holding a 1.19 WHIP on the road, yet Progressive Field has played to a 4.51 runs-per-game average over the past month and a 4.38 mark against right-handers in that same window. Gavin Williams has been steady at home with a 3.48 ERA, but opposing lineups have still managed a .251 average and 4.05 runs per nine against him in Cleveland this year, numbers that line up with the Guardians’ own 4.29 runs scored per game at home over their last 22 contests. The Padres have cleared 4 runs in six of their last nine road games and own a .742 OPS against right-handed starters in August, while the Guardians have plated three or more runs in the first five innings in 14 of their last 20 home dates. The simple expected-value math is clean here, take the 0.593 historical Over rate on 7.5 totals, multiply by the juice-adjusted payout, subtract the roughly 38 percent chance of a true low-scoring duel, and the edge still sits positive after you factor in the typical 1.9 combined bullpen runs that appear after the fifth inning league-wide. There’s a quiet satisfaction in taking the Over when everyone else is convinced the lowest total of the day has to stay under, the kind of satisfaction that has paid for more than a few late dinners over the years. The Over 7.5 is the side I’m riding.

The Blue Jays have been a fairly easy team to figure out recently, most notably when coming off a loss as they've gone a perfect 8-0 in their last eight games following a defeat, as is the case here. We'll back them at a generous price on Friday as they send Shane Bieber, who himself is looking to rebound off a rocky outing, to the mound against Gerrit Cole of the Yankees. For as well as Cole has pitched since returning from injury, he's only managed to go 6-5. The Yankees bats haven't always backed him up and off a 1-0 loss yesterday, I think we'll see a similar story play out against Bieber and the Blue Jays pitching staff on Friday. Every game is critical for Toronto right now as it desperately tries to stay in the A.L. Wild Card hunt. I think the price is right to get behind it on Friday at Rogers Centre. Take Toronto (8*).
