NBA Free Pick | Nets at Bucks

Two of the top three teams in the East will battle on Sunday in Milwaukee. The Bucks are currently third in the Eastern Conference standings and they will take on first-place Brooklyn in the first of two straight against the Nets.

The two teams have met once this season, and was a favorite for many NBA expert picks. The Nets snagged a 125-123 win at home as a four-point favorite. You can expect another high-scoring affair on Sunday as the NBA’s top two offenses take the floor.

That first meeting of the season gives us some direction with this free pick. Milwaukee leads the league in scoring averaging 119.2 points per game. Brooklyn is second at 118.7. Both teams can fill it up.

The Nets will likely be without James Harden, but they will have Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on the floor. Durant averages 27.1 points a game and Irving scores 26.9.

For Milwaukee, it’s two-time reigning MVP Giannis Antetokoumpo. He averages 28.5 points per game and Khris Middleton adds 20.0.

Both teams are among the top-5 in overall shooting percentage and three-point shooting percentage. Both teams play at a higher tempo as well ranking in the top-10 in possessions per game.

Using that first Bucks-Nets meeting of the season as a guide, the total in that game was set at 240. With the way these teams score and their pace, it’s highly likely that Sunday’s total is at least 240.

Now, that’s a pretty big number. Milwaukee, which leads the NBA in scoring, has only had five games this season with a total of 240 or higher. The Over hit in four of those five.

Brooklyn has had 10 games in which the total was set at 240 or higher. The total went Over in eight of those ten games. One of the Unders was in a game where the total was a ridiculous 248.5.

In looking at Over-Under records for the season, New Orleans leads the league in Overs with 62.9 percent (39-23) of their games going Over. Milwaukee and Brooklyn are third and fourth.

The Over is 35-25-1 in Bucks’ games and 36-26 in Nets’ games this season. While both teams trend toward the Over, more recently both teams have watched the Under hit.

In Milwaukee’s three games prior to a Thursday night game at Houston, the total went Under in all three. For Brooklyn, it has been much of the same. The Under has hit in three of the Nets last four games (before a Thursday game at Indiana).

These two teams will be all jacked up playing on a national broadcast on ABC. Expect both teams to come out firing. Brooklyn, which has clinched playoff spot already, would like to hang on to the No. 1 seed in the East. The Bucks would love to catch Philadelphia for No. 2.

With a total of at least 240 and no higher than 244.5, play the Over in what should be a high-scoring affair.
