Free Play from Doc’s Sports. MLS Soccer Take #209810 Atlanta over New York Red Bulls (7:30 p.m. EST, Saturday August 15) We think this is a great spot for Atlanta. They have not been playing their best lately but this will be a homecoming for them as they have not played a home match since May 9, before the World Cup. Even though they lost last time out, we liked what we saw from them at Philly. They were up by two goals most of the match vs the Union but they were a man down and Philadelphia scored two goals in extra time to steal three points. As we stated, Atlanta has not played at home in a long time and we think this return will give them an extra burst of energy and it’s not like the Red Bulls are a great side. They are quite far above Atlanta in the standings but have a -10 goal differential compared to -14 for Atlanta, who have faced a real tough schedule on this road trip. It’s telling that Atlanta is a decent favorite here with their recent performances, and we think this is an amazing spot for them to pick up three points and some momentum for the second half of the season in front of the home fans. |

7 Unit Play. Take #660 Seattle over Portland (10p.m., Friday, August 14 ION) The Storm are not as bad as their record would indicate and playing an expansion team at home should allow them to win two straight games. Portland has not played a road game since July 28th, and they went 2-3 on their five game homestand. The Fire give up a ton of points and that will bite them in this game. Seattle has yet to beat Portland this season, but all 3 games were close, and the Fire are not good enough to beat them 4 straight times. Seattle breaks through and wins this game by double digits. Seattle was favored at Portland on 8/8 and that tells me the books believe they are the more talented team. |

2 Unit Play. Take #951 St. Louis (+1.5 RL) over Chicago (2:20p.m., Friday, August 14 Apple TV+) We will side with the run line in this game as the total tells me the wind will benefit the pitchers in this game. This is a rivalry and the Cardinals would love to kill the Cubs chances of winning the NL Central. I never believe Clay Holmes can through a dominating game on the mound. |

2 Unit Play. Take #121 Over 38.5 in Carolina Panthers @ Buffalo Bills (1p.m., Saturday, August 15 Local) This is preseason and teams can change their plans, but the early indications are that both teams will play their starters on offense in this game. It is the opening of the Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium, and you can bet they want to put on a show with their starters. Carolina gave up 33 points to a rookie quarterback last week and I see them getting torched in this game as well. Dating back to 2025, Carolina has lost 4 straight exhibition games and giving up 102 combined points in those games. Carolina started off slow last year, dropping their first two games and they want to see better offensive earlier in the season. Buffalo has a new offensive minded head coach, and I see both teams reaching the 20 in points in this game. |

Doc's Sports Service has been in the sports handicapping business since 1971, and we are recognized as one of the leaders and most trusted names in the industry. Most handicapping services are one-man operations, but here at Doc’s Sports we are among the most progressive thinkers in the industry, and we have assembled some of the finest experts in the country for our service. We are one of the few handicapping companies that have withstood the test of time because of hard work, honesty and consistently of providing winners to our valued clients. Since 1971 Doc’s Sports became famous for our college football Big Ten Game of the Year that won and covered the point spread 19 years in a row. Doc’s Sports is one of the only handicapping services whose powerful influence has historically moved the official Las Vegas line more than seven points. At Doc’s Sports we often focus on lesser-known teams and less-popular games as oftentimes less information is available on those teams and games and certain trends tend to stick out and offer value that the average person may not catch. Oddsmakers set lines to balance the action, so in reality we're often handicapping against the general public perception, and the general public rarely ever wins long term. When you think of it that way our job is really not that difficult since we have more than four decades of experience and know what to look for when handicapping a game. The sportsbooks and oddsmakers have to handicap and set lines for every game -- we simply find a few of their mistakes. Doc’s Sports uses a combination of technical and fundamental handicapping along with exclusive information that we gather from a vast network of contacts that we have developed over the past 40+ years. At Doc’s Sports we built our name in the 1970s by becoming one of the best in handicapping college sports. That still holds true today as our best results still come from college football and college basketball. We also have individual full-time handicappers for NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, WNBA, CFL and major horse races, and we feel we have some of the top experts in the country in these designated fields. We are always in search of the best talent for our team, and what surprises most people is that some of our best information comes from our own clients. These are trusted clients that have been not only customers but have turned into friends of ours over the years, and they are able to pick up on key information in their areas. We love the feeling of being able to help people make money when facing challenging odds. Good money can be made if one has the connections, and here at Doc's Sports we pride ourselves on uncovering the edge that gives the clients the ability to beat the books on a consistent basis. |
