MIKE'S 4* RANGERS/TIGERS MLB TOP PLAY OF THE DAY Detroit right-hander Kenta Maeda was slapped around by the Chicago White Sox in his season opener, but he has allowed only four earned runs on seven hits with 8 Ks over 11 innings in his last two starts. Maeda is 2-0 with a 3.32 ERA in five career appearances (four starts) against the Texas Rangers who will counter with rookie Jack Leiter, the No. 2 pick of the 2021 draft, who will make his MLB debut today. Leiter made six appearances in spring training, one start, going 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA, and his minor league numbers are not very impressive. Texas bullpen has an ERA of 4.93 on the season, while Detroit's relievers have posted a very solid ERA of 1.76. We lost with Detroit yesterday, as three errors basically cost them the game.
