NBA Friday – Pacers Welcome Cavs’s, Preview and Prediction

Another wild night was Thursday in the NBA Playoffs, Philly hit South Beach in a big way and smacked the Heat in the mouth with a huge win. The other two games were also big wins which featured Portland losing big to New Orleans and the Warriors all but hammering the last nail in the preverbal coffin for the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs are a train wreck and things could not be worse for the team as the tragic news of Coach Popovich’ wife passing away. Pop has been magnificent in San Antonio, superb and one of the very best coaches in NBA history; it just might be time for this great man and great coach to “hang em up”.

It may sound harsh and especially at a tragic time in the Pop’s life, but facts are facts and professional sports is a grind that can take a toll on the best of the best. Why would a guy like Greg Popovich want to keep doing this? Here is a coach that has won it all multiple times, seen it all and coached em all! Hang it up, it’s time. The writing is on the wall for a great coach.

Tonight’s game is going to be a great matchup, a wild affair and it’s going down in the basketball Mecca; Indianapolis, Indiana. The Pacers are coming off of a loss but let’s give them the credit they deserve, every ounce of credit for going to Cleveland and not stealing a victory, this was not a last second bucket or some kind of fluke, not a chance. Game one was owned and operated by the Indiana Pacers! Game two was nearly stolen by the Pacers and had they found a way to win that game it would have been high crimes and misdemeanors! A win by the Pacers in game two was not in the cards and Cleveland got away with one in the waning moments.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers want another crack at the King and his team. All the king’s horses and all the kings’ men couldn’t stop the Indiana Pacers in game one and they struggled to finish in game two. How does this thing go down tonight? Without a doubt, this one tonight is going to be a rumble, it’s going to be a body checking battle that is bound to be full of hard fouls, a few wayward elbows and maybe even some pushing and shoving.

One thing is for sure, the Indiana Pacers are a very good basketball team and a slightly underrated club. Victor Oladipo is an absolute stud, this guy is a beast and he is going to be around for a very long time. He suits up to play ball and he is not intimidate or even impressed for that matter; by the king!

LeBron James is going to get his points but the Pacers must make him beat them, just as they did in game one. In game one they took away the shot from everyone on the team with exception of Lebron. They let LeBron have his, and it worked like a charm. The Cav’s fell into the trap, they took the bait and the Pacers showed that LeBron may be the man, he may put up gaudy numbers but he needs help.

LeBron must have help if he is going to go deep in this year’s playoffs and where can he get it from? Kevin Love is a good player but he is not LeBron’s “Scotty”. Love is not going to “will” anyone to victory, he will contribute nicely but not bring home the bacon.

Game one was an exceptional performance from the Pacers and it was a lackluster effort from Cleveland. The problem for Cleveland; they have nobody, they have no stars, they have no rebounders and they have no one that is willing to get their hands dirty, get in the pit and get the job done. LeBron is the only guy in town and all be it a very good one he is (top 5 all time), he is not going to get it done in Cleveland this year, or for that matter, any year. The ship has sailed and the window has most definitely closed.

LeBron James may continue to get 40 plus points per night, double-doubles and even triple-doubles but over time, this plan is not going to win even a “participation” trophy! Lebron James needs to leave Cleveland if he really wants to win another championship or he can stay at home, be comfortable and never win again.

Tonight’s game is going to be good, it will be close and it will be hard-fought but the Pacers bring confidence to the table and they will be suiting up in from of some great fans; some of the greatest in the NBA.  Call your favorite Sportsbook and get in for this action tonight.
